Farewell for Bishop Peter Sutton

As you know, Bishop Peter has retired and lives in Ottawa.  The diocese is planning to say good-bye to him formally in July.  In order that more people can take this opportunity to say farewell, there will be celebrations in three locations:

    July 6 (Thursday) - Thompson, MB 
     

    July 9 (Sunday) - The Pas, MB
    Sunday Mass at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception.

    July 11 (Tuesday) - Ile-a-la-Crosse, SK
    Evening Mass at 7:00 followed by a reception

You are welcome to any of these celebrations.  If groups are planning to attend, it would be helpful if you called the particular location and gave numbers.

ORDINATION COMING UP...
at the St. Laurent Pilgrimageon July 15-16. 
Bro Peter Altimarano will be ordained a priest there by Bishop Blaise Morand with Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie co-consecrating.


    Sudden death of Deacon David Doyle

    It is with sadness that we notify our Diocese of the sudden death of Deacon David Doyle on June 5, 2006.  Deacon Doyle and his wife, Margo, were living in Pinehouse Lake, where he was ministering to the people of St. Dominic's Parish.

    Please pray for David, his wife, Margo, and their children.


Most Reverend Sylvain Lavoie now appointed Archbishop of Keewatin-Le Pas

His Excellency Most Reverend Luigi Ventura, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, in a letter dated 20 March 2006 to Most Reverend André Gaumond, President of the CCCB, announced that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of Most Reverend Peter A. Sutton, O.M.I., as Archbishop of Keewatin – Le Pas, and has appointed Most Reverend Sylvain Lavoie, O.M.I., presently Coadjutor Archbishop of Keewatin – Le Pas, as Archbishop of Keewatin – Le Pas.
